What a year Katy Perry has had; two hit singles under her belt, the final chapter of Teenage Dreams and, now, the release of her 3D film Katy Perry: Part of Me. Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Carly Rae Jepsen joined her on the red carpet, supporting her next endeavour… as if she needs it.

The pop icon looked every bit the movie star on the red carpet, complete with vintage curls in her hair, a clutch bag in the style of a piece of cake, later swapping her look for something that was clearly inspired by cinema confectionary. The change of outfit happened when she took to the stage as part of the Katy Perry: Part of Me promotional performance. Katy burst out of a giant popcorn bag, sporting an outfit that was also decorated with the film-food favourite. She sang her way through her biggest hits to fans that had crowded around Grauman’s Theatre in LA, screaming at the top of their lungs every time the singer/songwriter made the slightest move.
If we were asked which look we preferred, it’d be too difficult to give an answer as the looks flawless is both her blood red velvet Dolce&Gabbana dress and the confectionary creation that she wore during the performance. This isn’t the first time that we’ve been exposed to Katy Perry’s sugary style, which caught everyone’s attention in the video for Californian Gurls, and it is a theme that has been explored in many different ways (including the famous squirty cream bra).

So, with the end of the Teenage Dream era and the film officially released, what now? Well, rumour has it that the star is taking an extremely well deserved break and is planning an epic holiday during Summer. She’s even said that she is toying with the idea of a wilderness adventure and getting back to basics. Hopefully, that’ll include leaving her experimental sense of style in the wardrobe, too, as I can’t imagine scaling a mountain would be made any easier, dressed as a jellybean with a belt made out of cupcakes.
We, in the Swide office, can’t wait to see the film, knowing that it’ll be full of new reasons for us to love her, that we can add to our ever-growing list.
So, if you’re as a big of a fan of Katy Perry as we are, we suggest that you get yourself down to your local cinema and watch the woman in action.
Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D hits the cinemas from 28th July
