Kathleen Brien, known as Katy B, is the latest female voice to break through the ranks of the iconic British music scene.
Katy is on a Mission
A Londoner born and bred, Katy takes her music very seriously. Inspired by the sounds of R&B, Garage and Dubstep, she is one of the most promising female artists of the Grime scene.
Having finished her Degree in Popular Music at Goldsmiths, Katy was romanced by numerous major labels but opted to release her first single in 2010, Katy on a Mission with Rinse, formerly a pirate radio station.
Since then, Katy B has won numerous accolades from critics and the British public alike. She has been nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize, 2011 while her debut album went to number 2 in the UK album charts, in the Spring of 2011.
Katy B has also supported Tiny Tempah in his tour in 2011 while in 2009 she participated at the London Jazz festival with Ms Dynamite.
Katy is set to become a regular at award ceremonies and on the red carpet. The Swide team wish her all the best on her feature endeavours and we are sure this will not be the last time we mention this fiery songstress.
