The highly anticipated release of Adele’s Skyfall, the theme tune for the new James Bond film, has been leaked online, giving the bookies reason to think that the singer is on her way to scoring a number one record. Here is what Swide thinks.
The 90-second clip features everything that you would expect from a James Bond theme song; drama, highs and lows, a 70-something piece orchestra, that required touch of retro and, of course, epic vocals. Usually, leaks of artist’s work are met with anger but co-producer and writer Paul Epworth has turned the problem in to a positive saying, ‘I hear a short excerpt of Skyfall leaked. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the whole thing because Adele’s performance is jaw dropping’.
This much buzz around a James Bond theme hasn’t been felt since the likes of Tina Turner and Madonna offered their vocals to the movie franchise. The official debut of the track is planned to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond movies, the first being Dr. No in 1962, and will be premiered on adele.tv and we can’t wait!
In a press release, Adele said, ‘I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul [Epworth] had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done, which made it exciting.’
The track is supposedly a glorious 5-minutes long, something that is sure to contain more of that certain Shirley Bassey flair that we can hear in the clip.
So, if you want to hear the Adele and the 77-piece orchestra in full, you had better log on to adele.tv at 0:07am on Friday GMT time. Our alarms are set already, are yours?
