What the fashion pack dance to

Mmmelanie when not DJing herself was out and about during London Fashion Week spotting (or spotifying?) the tracks that got the fashion pack dancing. We asked the French DJ and girl about London town for her musical highlights from LFW.

Not content with the front row, a bunch of celebrities hit the London decks this season. Alexa Chung, Agyness Deyn, Pixie Geldof, Bryan Ferry, The Misshapes, and The Gossip joined designers and editors showcasing their spinning form. Young designers Louise Gray, and Charles Anastase, joined Arena Homme Plus’ Editor-in Chief Jo-Ann Furniss in getting a smile on the most hardened of fashionista’s faces at Richard Mortimer’s now infamous Ponystep party whilst Pandora’s Jukebox (pandoras-jukebox.blogspot.com) ensured the crowd matched Christopher Kane’s “wild animal inspired” line for Topshop. Toe-tapping tunes included Grace Jones’ track, ‘Slave to the Rhythm’ and Depeche Mode’s – ‘Never Let Me Down.’

DJ duo JBAG (Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Goergerino) gave LFW a rich and varied selection – we swayed to The Lemonheads ‘Mrs Robinson’ at the finale of the B Store show, The Horrors ‘Mirror’s Image’ at Roksanda Llincic, Tina Turner ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain (Mindless Boogie re-edit)’ at Osman Yousefzada, and a touch of classical music with ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ by Tchaikovsky at Vivienne Westwood. The duo also played contemporary tracks from the like of Erol Alkan & Boys Noize, Jesse Rose, Tiga and The Count & Sinden at KTZ…

La Roux showcased a fantastic live performance at upcoming designer Nova Dando’s show whilst twisted disco tracks from the 80’s & 90’s such as - Pump up the Jam by Technotronic, Dirty Diana by Michael Jackson, Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry, Groove is in the heart by DeeLite, and Get into the Groove by Madonna got the fashion pack on their heels.
