Her music has been described by Tom Waits himself as like going swimming in a lake at night. As this is one of our favorite past-times - the concept immediately intrigued us. Ahead of Jesca's debut album launch (end Nov) we find out more.
The 33-year-old Manchester-based Californian is about to launch her career with her debut album Hunting My Dress. Like all artists that go onto global success - it appeared fortune shined down on Jesca. With a musician of such stature as Tom Waits we did wonder how connections like this happen. Is it a chance meeting in a bar or a run-in on the metro?
It's actually been reported that after a series of to her jobs (once again we're hearing the echoes of a superstar fairytale), fate stepped in for Jesca and she got a job as the live-in child minder to the children of Tom Waits. Could the rest, as they say be history?
Jesca's blend of alternative folk is set for global success as her debut album, Hunting My Dress is released on November 30th.
