Annie Clark: The ethereal girl next door

There we were thinking a move to Brooklyn NY, home of the artistic hipster would instantly ensure a creative output. Singer songwriter St. Vincent sings a different tune.

"Actor" Annie's second album was released earlier this year 2009 on 4AD records. Although it appears – it almost never happened when a creative crisis set in after Anie moved to Brooklyn. After a spell with headphones and her favourite films (Disney and Woody Allen) – a flood of creativity finally came in the form of ‘glam guitars, drums, synths, arpèges à la Morricone and some strong song writing. The result is a series of catchy tunes such as "Actor" which instantly draw us into Annie's world.

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist: St. Vincent a.k.a Annie Clark's music career started in 2003. Born in Tulsa (Oklahoma) in 1982, she joined The Polyphonic Spree (a choral psychedelic pop group from Dallas).
Her first tour EP "Paris is Burning" contained just three tracks which later evolved into her debut album released in 2007 on Beggars Banquet Records: "Marry Me".

Following the release of "Jesus Saves, I spend", Annie morphed into the personification of her music: an ethereal girl-next-door who sneaks goodnight kisses to groups of boy-scouts and the perfect image for her soothing mix of indie-rock, choir and folk.

St. Vincent will be on tour until November, and in the meanwhile she's on Twitter at twitter.com/st_vincent.
