Amy Winehouse protégé: Dionne Bromfield
London-born soul singer Dionne Bromfield’s debut album is generating industry buzz and thousands of YouTube hits with her Motown inspired album, the first release on Winehouse’s own record label, Lioness Records. Described by Elle UK’s music blog as ‘soulful and bluesy’- the thirteen year old is hitting the spotlight and fast.
Although mentor doesn’t currently spring to mind when Amy Winehouse is mentioned – it does appear that the Rehab star is determined to set Dionne on the road to global superstar. They recently appeared on a UK TV show performing Dionne’s debut single Mama Said.

Dionne’s album features covers of 12 classic songs that are reported to reflect her love of vintage soul music and ‘60s girl groups. Tracks include the Motown anthem Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, which Dionne has recorded as a duet with Zalon, and Foolish Little Girl, originally a hit for The Shirelles in 1963.
“She’s so much better than I was at her age,” Amy Winehouse is quoted as saying about her goddaughter and new protègè.
Dionne’s debut single Mama Said was released on November 1st.
