It's Thanksgiving y'all! Here are 3 songs that Mood Swings is thankful for, which were released this year.
Thanksgiving (just like Halloween before it) is gaining a growing popularity in Europe…up until a few years ago we barely noticed it at all, but nowadays it seems to be affecting everyone on some level, be it because your favourite TV show (Revenge) skips an episode due to the festivities or your American friends start having their turkey talks (is it THAT big a deal?).
Even if you're not affected at all and have no idea what the USA is being thankful for, I'm sure you can find it in your heart to appreciate a little something in your life. If nothing else, be thankful for how delicious turkey is.
I for one would like to express my thanks for some great music that came out over the past year, so here's three comebacks that, in my opinion, deserve special attention.
First of all, Punks Jump Up made their big come-back this year. After their 2007 nu-rave hit 'Dance to our disco', some great remixes for the likes of Gossip (live next Tuesday in Milan!), Digitalism, Robyn and Simian Mobile Disco, they came back with a more distinct disco vibe while keeping their electro soul perfectly intact. The single 'Mr. Overtime' came out in April with some very recognisable vocals from Chromeo's Dave 1 and a great set of remixes.
PS: Punks Jump Up will be in Milan tonight, Friday 23rd, playing at Tunnel club. Expect a great show.

Former Hercules & Love Affair front-girl Kim Ann Foxman is back with a vengeance with her Return It/Hypnotic Dance EP. She remains faithful to her dark, early-90s house vibe and delivers a thoroughly entertaining yet brooding piece of work (some great remixes in here too).

The third and VERY welcome comeback is Stuart Price aka Les Rhythmes Digitales aka Jacques Lu Cont aka Thin White Duke aka Man With Guitar aka Zoot Woman. You have probably heard of him in one form or another: if not his own work, he has produced and/or remixed for the likes of Madonna (extensively), Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Missy Elliot etc. (and the list goes on and on), demonstrating how his work is appreciated by artists of all genres. Check out the tracks he is credited for in his Wikipedia page…it's a jaw-dropping list.
His new track came out in September, under the Jacques Lu Cont moniker, on the hip French label Bromance.
Enjoy.
