We’re used to X-Rated films being stamped with three Xs, but, in Hugh Jackman’s case, two will suffice. Get ready to grow your sideburns back in, The Wolverine returns for two outings.
Yes, we could tell you all about how marvelous the Aussie’s singing voice, as featured spectacularly in epic cinematic event Les Miserables, is but we’re more interested in his more hairy, X-Rated side… yes, we’re talking about when he dons his Adamantium claws as Wolverine.
First up, this year sees the his next solo outing since 2009’s Marvel Comics hero blockbuster ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, which will be taking centre stage in this Summer’s entourage of prospective cinematic hits. The storyline is sure to please those of us that geek out on the character Wolverine as this film has been based on the limited publications that circulated during 1982, entitled ‘Wolverine’. This tale sees our tragic hero, Logan, travel to Japan, where he clashes with a mysterious figure from his past, leading to a fight with lasting repercussions. Cue dramatic drum roll.
This is to be followed by what will be the seventh film in the X-Men movie franchise, the sequel to 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’, a film in which fans will be treated to some of their favourite X-Men characters, including the rumoured return of Halle Berry as the weather bending femme fatale Storm. A highly enjoyable thought to have in one’s mind. It will also see fan favourites returning, Beast, Xavier, Moira MacTaggart and Mystique. But, you’ll have to wait for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ as it isn’t penned until 2014.
