From 16 - 31 August Barbie's Deinhoff, Berlin is hosting Lucio Palmieri's Hollywood Babylon Reloaded; an exhibition that gives us all the oppurtunity of a life time... to buy and own our favourite female popular icon. Ok, let's calm down, we're talking illustration and collage here, but it's nice to dream, no?
And, if you're not in the buying mood, we're all invite to stop by and worship our pop icon.
When Swide discovered the talents of Lucio Palmieri, we could see that the emerging talent had a keen eye for the women on the frontline of popular culture. His exhbition is a collection of 10 collage works, each depicting his chosen muses with the use of specifically chosen materials that have connection those selected. Here's a run down of who you can expect to find:
There's Britney Spears, a new Jesus Christ who sacrificed for our sins on the altar of an American Dream as tired and high on Xanax as her.
There's Madonna, whose ascension to Heaven happened quite a bit ago, leaving us her mortal remains and nothing but memories of a time gone by.
There is Lady Gaga, postmodern flamingo made of feathers and studs and images from the past, all artfully glued together.
There's Amy, who maybe was never there in the first place.
There is Hello Kitty, contemporary icon par excellence, there for everyone to collect and buy and eat and digest and love and hate.
There's Anna Wintour, the oracle who - for 25 years now – has imagined our bodies and told us what to do with them.
There's Angela, the «unfuckable fat-ass» with the most colorful collection of suits of all time, who's currently writing the history of Europe out of lifestyle blogs, gossip magazines, television specials.
There's Anna Dello Russo, who is a pagliaccia (a clown) and turned that into her full-time job.
There's Kim Kardashian, the Black Dahlia of cable TV: by paying the monthly fee, you are entitled to a piece of her.
There's Lana Del Rey, with her enhanced lips and fake eyelashes, a scalpel-painted Flamish beauty.
