The Spiga 2 Dolce&Gabbana boutique is a launch platform for talented up and coming designers. For SS12, Dolce&Gabbana have selected an exciting collection of talented youngsters. Featured from the roster this week: Commuun.
The Commuun lable was set up by two like-minded Japanese designers. Iku Furudate and Kaito Hori joined forces in 2005 to set up a label which was based on the concepts of community, communication and communion.
Iku is a graduate of Bunka Fashion College and Central Saint Martins, while Kaito studied at New York’s FIT and Amhem Academy of Arts. Commuun is a merging of Iku’s eye for draping and colour merged with Kaito’s adept tailoring and experimentation with volumes. Since launching in 2005, the 1960s inspired Commuun aesthetic has been showing at Paris Fashion Week and won highly acclaimed accolades such as the LVMH and Longchamp prizes ANDAM in 2007.
