UK fashion talent heads to the library

British Fashion Designers, by Hywel Davies and published by Laurence King this month is the first book to embrace fashion talent from all over the UK. Swide takes a preview peek.

Focusing on British designers since 2000 who have made their influence resonate globally, this new book British celebrates those influential designers who have defined contemporary British fashion, and those
individuals who have presented their own radical ideas for fashion.

Challenging preconceived ideas, these British creatives are responsible for building British fashion to being honored internationally. Their messages and aesthetic may be diverse, but their aim is the same - to define their own fashion language and present modern and fundamentally original fashion to a contemporary market.

The book's cover has been photographed by leading fashion photographer, Nick Knight and features creatives such as hatmaker Stephen Jones who is profiled in the book.

New designers such as Louise Goldin are profiled revealing who reveals why she considers London such a source of creativity and why London has a reputation for creating design talent.

Designer Gareth Pugh defines British fashion as "raw, creative and modern" and goes on to reveal the pros and cons of working in London.

Designer Hussein Chalayan reveals why science, technology and radical materials fuel his creativity.

Christopher Kane reveals his inspirations behind his body-con and edgy designs.
