This Was It: Mister Lonely - vintage Michael Jackson

A young American man in Paris eking out a living as a Michael Jackson look-alike, takes on a more tragic tone.

Often films are released a first time only to fall by the wayside. Harmony Korine's (Gummo) film, Mister Lonely although by no means fell by the wayside, its which centres on a lost Michael Jackson look-alike has a deeper tragic turn following Michael's untimely death.

Mister Lonely directed by Harmony Korine (2007)

Featuring British actress Samantha Morton as Marilyn Monroe and Diego Luna as Michael Jackson (and which alos stars Werner Herzog as Father Umbrillo, James Fox as The Pope and Anita Pallenberg as the Queen of England), this 2007 film focuses on a host of central characters who are unwilling to grow old nor live in the real life. if it's tragic familiarity rings a bell - it's worth a watch.

Harmony Korine's latest work - Trash Humpers follows a small group of elderly peeping toms through the shadows and margins of an unfamiliar world. Crudely documented by the participants themselves, it follows the debased and shocking actions of a group of true sociopaths the likes of which have never been seen before.
