Murakami retrospective at the Guggenheim

We appreciate one is supposed to go to a museum to be immersed in art - but does anyone ever admit to just going for the shopping? We're hitting the Guggenheim's online shop now to get ourselves some Murakami.

The Takashi Murakami retrospective - ©MURAKAMI runs from Feb 17th - May 31st 2009 at Bilbao's Guggenheim musem. It's the most comprehensive retrospective to date dedicated to Japanese artist Takashi Murakami (Tokyo, 1962), one of the most highly acclaimed and influential contemporary artists to emerge on the Asian art scene in the last century.

Occupying 2,000 square meters of exhibition space, the third floor of the Museum will chronologically trace Murakami’s career, showcasing his work in sculpture, painting, fashion, animation and merchandising. In conjunction with the sinuous luminous spaces of the Frank Gehry building, Murakami's work takes on a new dimension.

Then of course there's the shopping part. Take a peek at the Guggenheim's online shop featuring a dedicated MURAKAMI space - stocking brand new Takashi Murakami items www.guggenheim-bilbao.es.
