Our favourite photo-blogger Pooneh Ghana has exclusively given Swide the visual scoop on the world's young leading musicians. Take a backstage peek at The Kills, We Are Scientists, Little Joy and more...
Hitting concerts around the world snapping leading musicians and capturing them in her trademark intimate style Pooneh Ghana is definitely a photographer to watch. We asked her to reveal her favourite images and the stories that go with them.

Black Lips – One of my favorite bands, and they know it. Hah. I pretty much have them to thank for a lot of the music I listen to now. This polaroid was also taken at the 'Mess With Texas' gig, during SXSW. That shirt Joe is wearing is one that I made for him last year before Coachella, out of a series of shirts we made for the guys. More a spur of the moment, sleep-deprived kind of decision really. It's shown up on him quite a few times since then, which is cool considering I thought I was completely insane the day we gave it to him.

Caleb Followill – My most popular photo! All the KoL guys were pretty friendly, I wasn't expecting to meet them at all so it was a pleasant surprise. I actually got really upset after I took this photo and saw the streak running through it (one of the risks you take buying film off ebay). But apparently no one seems to care.

Demetri Martin – I'm in the Music Entertainment committee at UT, which (with the Distinguished Speakers Committee) helped put on a free show on campus with Demetri. A few of the members, including myself, helped volunteer during the event and were treated to a reception with Demetri after the show. Why is this guy so amazing?

Mischa Barton – Just a really random run-in. I think she was on tour with her boyfriend at the time?

King Khan and The Shrines – This polaroid is backstage at the 'Mess with Texas' showcase, during SXSW. I've taken King Khan's polaroid before on previous tours, so while my friends and I were watching them do a photoshoot backstage, their tour manager came over and asked if I could take a few polaroids, which is how this one came to be. We somehow ended up taking polaroids with King Khan in a port-o-potty as well, which was awesome.

Little Joy – This was one of my first posts with Gorilla Vs. Bear. Rodrigo, Fab, and Binki were some of the nicest people, and Fab said he loved Gorilla Vs. Bear because Chris (founder of GvsB) and the blog had been treating Little Joy so well. It was great to hear that because it made me feel a lot more comfortable with taking their photo, and they were having a lot of fun with it as well, hence this polaroid. It was all around a great night!

Late of the Pier – This is a really great group of guys, and i'm glad to have developed a friendship with them while they were in the US. This photo was taken backstage at the Fader Fort during SXSW, after their set. They were having a bit of sound problems that week, and had to cut their set short at this gig as well, so they seemed a bit bummed. Little did they know I came bearing gifts: fake mustaches, candy, odd strap-on noses, a mentos geyser, among other things. Glad to have cheered them up, if even a little bit.

We Are Scientists – On their tour with Kings of Leon. I just really love Chris in this photo (on the left), seeing as we were in Texas and it was over 100 degrees that day. And someone told me that Keith looks like George Clooney in this photo.

The Kills – This was before their instore at Lollapalooza, I got one shot of alison before this, but I accidentally moved my camera while the shot was being taken, and thought I messed up the photo so I quickly asked for another one. I had no idea Jamie was in the background of this, I guess I got lucky as this turned out being a cool shot of both of them.

Pooneh Ghana is a photographer - who literally lives & breathes her work. Describing her life as "Traveling around the globe to feed my unhealthy addiction to both (music & film photography) are the main reasons why i'm currently broke as f!@k. Not that i'm complaining... "
