Last week Mood Swings cast a chill over us with his selection of songs and, so, this week he’s back to add a flicker of warmth to the weekend.
Last week we discussed the ever-advancing cold, and as if things weren't
chilly enough, legislation has been passed in Milan for the lowering of heating
city-wide, as a measure against excessive pollution. This means I'm writing this
while fully dressed and wrapped in a blanket.
There are other ways to keep warm though…and no, it's not what you're all
thinking.
An act from NYC, Emil & Friends make truly delightful music. Their music
is cheerful and upbeat (the genre is quite unclassifiable if not by such
adjectives), without comprimising quality and originality in the process. They
have been picked up by Kitsuné and the result is an EP with a great set of
remixes.
'Royal Oats', both in its original version and this remix, is probably one the
most cheerful and relaxing tracks ever.

In 2011 Beth Ditto published her first solo work, an EP produced by the British duo Simian Mobile Disco. The result of this cooperation is a truly brilliant mix of electronic beats and Ms. Ditto's stunning and very recognizable vocals. I was hoping a full length album would be published sooner or later, but it doesn't seem to be in the works.

Third song-for-warmth of the week is the second single off Tame Impala's latest (and truly lovely) album, 'Lonerism'. I had already written about them recently and don't want to repeat myself, just let me say that the top comment for this song's video on Youtube - right after "I feel like having sex" (…huh?) - is: "Lennon, is that you singing from heaven?". I find it to be very appropriate.
